Panchi

Panchi manind, is unchai par, nojavan ne par khol din
neech ki, jo yadein thin, bohot sal bad ujagar huin
juratmandi ka rumuz, ghudgharzi mein milne lagi
is unchai par, jo badal garajte hein vo baraste nahin
baraste nahin

Yeh zamanat, yeh Qayamat, us ke par pe vazan thi
Yeh nadamat, devkamat, jis mein us ki rooh doub gayi
juratmandi ka rumuz, ghudgharzi mein milne lagi
is unchai par, jo badal garajte hein vo baraste nahin
baraste nahin

Like a bird, at this height, a youth spread his wings
The base thoughts, of so many years, awoke within
The secret to courage is a doorway to selfishness
At this height, the clouds that thunder never rain
They never rain

This certainty, this calamity, what weight on his wings
His soul was immersed in a deep repentance,
The secret to courage is a doorway to selfishness
At this height, the clouds that thunder never rain
They never rain

--Usman Chohan (2007)
